Protect Granite Staters’ Voter Data
Tell your State Senator to Oppose HB 1062
There is no evidence of widespread non-citizen voting in New Hampshire. HB 1062 fuels misinformation and undermines trust instead of improving election security. This bill would give the Secretary of State broad authority to conduct random audits of voters’ citizenship status after they are already registered to vote.
HB 1062 raises privacy concerns; allowing sensitive voter data to be shared with any and all available governmental and private databases does not protect Granite Staters’ privacy.
There is the issue of inaccurate information in private databases, resulting in eligible voters being removed from the voter rolls without their knowledge.
Furthermore, HB 1062 does not require a public report of audits - without transparency, how will the public trust that audits are truly random?
Smooth elections require public trust, accuracy, and proper data protection. We should be focusing on implementing policies that will improve our election systems.
