Support College Students’ Voting Rights in NH

Voters who are 18, US citizens, and domiciled in New Hampshire have the right to vote here and are asked to prove their identity when they do so. SB 223 prohibits student identification cards from being used as photo identification for purposes of obtaining a ballot.

By limiting the types of IDs that are accepted, eligible voters will be turned away solely because they don’t have the right documents – even when they can prove who they are and that they are eligible. 

SB 223 deliberately blurs the line to target one group of voters: college students. You shouldn’t lose your voice in democracy because you’re going to college.
