Support Granite Staters’ Voting Rights
Tell the House Election Law Committee to Support HB1600 and HB1678
Despite being the ‘First in The Nation’ state, New Hampshire is lagging far behind the rest of the country when it comes to voter registration modernization. Right now, voters often have to register in person during limited hours or wait until Election Day, which leads to long lines, confusion, and mistakes. HB1600 and HB1678 are bipartisan, common-sense steps forward.
HB 1600 allows eligible voters to register to vote or update their registration when they apply for or renew a driver’s license or non-driver ID at the DMV.
HB 1678 requires the Secretary of State to accept voter registration forms directly from voters and to create a secure online portal where eligible voters can register or update their registration.
These bills meet people where they’re at. When voters update their ID, they can also update their voter information - saving time, reducing errors, and easing pressure on Election Day. HB 1600 makes life easier for voters and for election officials. HB1678 provides voters with a secure, modern option to register on their own schedule, before Election Day. Modern systems build trust. Outdated systems create confusion. Granite Staters deserve an election system that works for them.
